How to commission a fursuit safely (and avoid scams)

Most makers are honest, hardworking artists. But fursuits are expensive, so scammers copy photos and pose as makers. A few checks protect your money.
Before you pay anyone
- Get the quote and terms in writing. Price, what’s included, timeline, deposit and refund terms. At Fursuit Hub: never send money before we agree in writing.
- Talk through official channels. Start from the maker’s own website or verified profiles. Be wary of strangers in DMs offering “cheap” or “affordable” suits and pushing you to another app.
- Check the work is really theirs. Look for progress photos and consistent style across their gallery. Reverse image search photos if something feels off.
- Use a traceable payment method and keep receipts and messages.
Red flags
- Prices far below what other makers charge for the same work.
- Pressure to pay immediately, or to pay a different person or account.
- No written terms, or terms that change after you pay.
- Refusal to share build updates or progress photos.
How Fursuit Hub works
Quote requests go through the form on this website (see every step of our process, and our checklist for choosing a maker). Quotes usually come back in about a week. A non-refundable deposit reserves your slot only after we agree on the quote; the balance is due before shipping. If someone contacts you claiming to be Fursuit Hub somewhere else, verify through our contact form first.
