How to prepare a fursuit reference sheet for your quote

Your reference sheet is the blueprint for your fursuit. A clear one gets you a more accurate quote and a suit that looks like your character. Here’s what to include.
The views to include
- Front and side — the minimum. A fursuit is 3D, so the maker needs to see the muzzle shape and ear placement from more than one angle.
- Back — if your character has markings on the back, tail or back of the head.
- Face close-up — expression, eye shape, nose and any cheek tufts or face markings.
- Paws and pads — pad color, number of fingers, claws.
Colors: be exact
Add color swatches next to the drawing so colors don’t shift with screen settings. Fur comes in a limited range of shades, so the maker matches your swatches as closely as fur allows. The number of colors and markings is also one of the things that changes the price — see how much a fursuit costs.
Details that change the build
- Markings — show them on every view so they line up around the suit.
- Eyes — at Fursuit Hub, 3D follow-me eyes are standard and 2D eyes are available on request. Mention your preference.
- Hair, horns and extras — draw them clearly; they add work and affect the quote.
- Body shape — for fullsuits, say whether you want digitigrade or plantigrade legs.
Original art only
We only accept original art — no AI. If your character only exists as a sketch, commission a ref sheet from an artist first. Use a character you own, and don’t send someone else’s design.
Sending it with your quote
- Upload the sheet somewhere you can share with a link.
- Open the quote form, choose your suit type, and paste the link into Ref sheet URL.
- Use Notes for anything the art doesn’t show: eye style, extras, and how you’ll wear the suit.
Not sure what to order? Compare suit types in the price calculator: heads, partials and fullsuits. Then see what happens after you send it.
FAQ
Do I need a reference sheet to commission a fursuit?
Yes. The ref sheet is the blueprint the maker quotes and builds from. At Fursuit Hub we only accept original art — no AI.
What views should a fursuit ref sheet show?
At least the front and side of the character. Add the back if there are markings there, and close-ups of the face, paws and any special details.
How do I send my ref sheet?
Paste a link to it in the “Ref sheet URL” field of our quote form, and add anything the art doesn’t show in the notes.
