Digitigrade vs plantigrade fursuits

Digitigrade fullsuit by Fursuit Hub

The leg style is the biggest design choice in a fullsuit. Here’s how to pick.

Digitigrade

Digitigrade suits recreate the “backwards knee” look of many animals — canines, felines, dragons. The shape is built with padding on the legs. At Fursuit Hub, digitigrade fullsuits use removable pillows, so the padding can come out when you wash or store the suit. Labor starts from €3,800+.

  • Looks more animal-like and dynamic in photos.
  • Adds a little bulk and warmth on the legs.

Plantigrade

Plantigrade suits follow your natural leg shape — a straight-legged build. They suit bears, toony characters, and anyone who wants a simpler, lighter body. Labor starts from €3,600+.

  • Lighter and slightly cooler.
  • Clean, classic silhouette.

Which is right for your character?

Look at your ref sheet. Species with visible animal legs usually read best as digitigrade. Toony, chunky or upright characters often look great plantigrade. If you’re unsure, say so in your quote and we’ll recommend one.
