How to commission a fursuit, step by step

Commissioning your first fursuit is exciting — and a big purchase. Here’s the whole process, from character art to the box at your door.
1. Get a clear ref sheet
Your reference sheet is the blueprint. A good one shows your character from the front and side (back too if there are markings), with clear color swatches. At Fursuit Hub we only accept original art — no AI. If your character only exists as a sketch, commission a ref sheet from an artist first.
2. Decide what you want made
- Head only — the centrepiece; you can add parts later.
- Mini partial / partial — head, paws, tail (and feet for a partial), worn with clothes.
- Fullsuit — head to toe, digitigrade or plantigrade.
Not sure? Read partial vs fullsuit.
3. Request a quote
Fill in the quote form with your name, email, suit type, species, colors, budget option, a link to your ref sheet and any notes (eye style, extras, how you’ll use the suit). Quotes usually come back in about a week, with a timeline.
4. Agree in writing, then pay the deposit
Once you’re happy with the quote, a non-refundable deposit reserves your slot. The remaining balance is due before shipping. Golden rule: never send money before the price and terms are agreed in writing.
5. Send your measurements
For fullsuits we’ll need your shoe size, a hand tracing and head circumference. Measure carefully — fit is what makes a suit comfortable for a whole con day.
6. Build, ship, suit up
Suits ship worldwide. Shipping and insurance are extra, and customs, VAT and duties are the buyer’s responsibility. Planning to import? See buying a fursuit internationally.
